Anna Herholdt: Governance Specialist, Sanlam
by Anna Herholdt
I deal with employers, intermediaries, complainants and their lawyers on a regular basis iro compliance issues and am required to know the law and hold my own in conversation with them. I find the Manual invaluable for this purpose. Working with the authors I also know that any new development will be incorporated in next year’s edition. I recently enrolled for a Certificate Programme in Pension Funds Law course and enjoyed a comforting moment when I noted that in their training material much of the prescribed reading are chapters from the Manual.
Erina le Grange: Deputy PO and head of the Fund Secretariat of the Sanlam Umbrella Fund.
by Erina le Grange
I use the Manual on a daily basis to answer queries or resolve problems. When I deal with employers and intermediaries, I often refer back to Manual just to refresh my memory or to check the correct reference to the sections in the Act or other requirements. It offers a detailed and updated summary of the law but also provides cross references to the case law that are essential. I do not know how I would cope without it.
Marius Botha: certified financial planner, financial planning lecturer, trainer and author
by Marius Botha
This is an excellent work on employee benefits and retirement planning. As a part-time lecturer in financial planning this has been my go-to book on the subject for many years. It is recommended reading for students of financial planning law. It is a must for all financial planning practitioners. With so much of South Africa’s savings being in retirement funds and compulsory annuities, a financial planner cannot do without a copy in the office. I started using it when it was first published and still do today.
Anne-Marie D’Alton: CEO, Batseta Council of Retirement Funds for South Africa
by Anne-Marie
Batseta is the examining body for the occupational qualifications registered for principal officers and trustees. The Manual has been selected as essential reading material to help learners to master the subject matter of these courses. The content is comprehensive and current. The Manual is accessible to all learners for the duration of their studies. It is a priceless resource to tie up those loose ends when preparing for the assessments. There is no doubt that many principal officers and trustees who will be enrolling for the occupational qualifications now and in the future will continue to benefit from the resource for years to come. Congratulations to the author and contributors for reaching this significant milestone.
