Product description
A comprehensive guide to Carbon Tax available in online format. This work demystifies the administration of the carbon tax as an environmental levy under the Customs and Excise Act.
In addition to the principal authors, there are 4 contributing authors: Zelda Burchell, Sarah Goodbrand, Olivia Bernstein, Roelof van Huyssteen.
The work is comprised of 2 parts:
Part I: The Local and Global Context of Carbon Pricing This puts South Africa’s decision to support one form of carbon pricing, namely a carbon tax, into a global perspective. It includes detailed discussions of other forms of carbon pricing, as well as the global treaties that enabled participating countries to treat greenhouse gas mitigation as an important policy objective.
Part II: The South African Carbon Tax: Practical Insights and Guidance This serves as a practitioners’ handbook for managing, compiling and submitting carbon tax returns. It takes a practical approach and includes step by step instructions on how to navigate the complexities of carbon tax. It considers recommendations for operational, financial, strategic and managerial innovations to assist carbon taxpayers in responding to the challenges likely to arise from their exposure to this new form of taxation.
