The enactment of the Financial Intelligence Centre Amendment Act, No 1 of 2017 (FIC Act) signifies a new risk-based approach to South Africa's anti-money laundering and combatting of terrorist financing strategy. The Amendment Act of 2017 makes extensive changes to the FIC Act and comes into operation on various dates. The pocketbook includes the consolidated and annotated Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001 (as amended by Act, No 1 of 2017) and the Regulations. Amendments which are already in force have been made to the relevant sections of the Act, those which have yet to come into operation are included in boxed text below the relevant section.
