Debbie graduated with a B.A., LL.B. (Rhodes University); PhD (University of Cape Town). She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is currently Associate Professor, Department of Commercial Law at the University of Cape Town and Director of the Institute of Development and Labour Law. Debbie is a member (and former committee member) of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW) and has published numerous articles and book chapters and is co-author of Labour Law in South Africa: Context and Principles. As a consultant Debbie has worked with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on several labour law projects in the SADC region.
